The founder of EWB – Sri Lanka, Prof. Ranjth Dissanayake is a well experienced, qualified engineer and a Senior Professor in Civil Engineering, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. Currently, he is serving the country as the State Secretary to the Ministry of Urban Development. He was a Fulbright Scholar in 2008 Columbia University, USA and Endeavour Fellow in 2008 Monash University Australia, JASSO Research Fellowship Ehime University, Japan in 2007-2008. He has published over 100 journal papers, and to his work of excellence, he was awarded Young Scientist Award 2007, by National Science and Technology Commission of Sri Lanka and Overseas Prize for the paper published in Institution of Civil Engineers, London, UK, 2007. He has chaired ten international conferences. He is a Charted Engineer, a fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL) and the International Institute for infrastructure Renewal and Reconstruction (IIIRR). He is the Chairman of the Green Building Council of Sri Lanka (GBCSL) and Civil Engineering Sectional Committee of Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL).
Except being the president of EWB he is the Associate Editor for the International Journal of Structural Health Monitoring, Director, Engineering Design and Consultancy Centre (ED&CC), President, Ando Club of Sri Lanka (ACSL), and Coordinator of University of Peradeniya, for ProSPER.Net. In private sector, he is Chainman for Lego International (Pvt.) Ltd, ICB (Pvt.) Ltd, Lanka AAC (Pvt) Ltd and IIPS (Pvt) Ltd. He is chairing of the 11th International Conference on Sustainable Built Environment (ICSBE) 2020 which will be held at Earl’s Regency Kandy Sri Lanka in 2020 (www.icsbe.org).
