Services - Submit a project

Do you have a Community Development Project that We at EWBSL would be interested in?

EIt has often been said that alone we can do so little – yet together we can do so much! Engineers Without Borders Sri Lanka is an organization promoting collaborations between engineers, engineering students, members of the community and other motivated individuals – so that community development may be achieved through sustainable means.

If you feel that you may have a worthy project proposal, for a community in need of a sustainable, innovative engineering project – complete the attached Project Proposal Form outlining the description of the project and how we at EWBSL can support this endeavor. Please note that your proposal should not exceed 7 pages (i.e. 7 pages per each individual proposal). Completed project proposals are to be submitted to:

Thank you for your interest!

Project Proposal Review Process.

THE PROJECT PROPOSAL REVIEW PROCESS

STEP 1

PROJECT PROPOSAL REVIEWING CRITERIA

    1. The proposed project should be highly beneficial and sustainable to the target community. The communities will have to be aware of their needs, limitations, resources, and the project is not to harbor any discriminations against any race, gender, religion or creed.
    2. The project should pose no detrimental harm to the community’s inhabitants and environment.
    3. Clear outline of the engineering resources required for the execution of the project.
    4. The Project must be in line with the EWBSL ethos (vision and mission)
    5. All required and relevant information must be clearly detailed on the proposal form.
    6. Project ownership must lie within the community, leaving no room for future exploitation.
    7. EWBSL only provides professional expertise (including engineering volunteers) and hence no cash donations to the community – thus the project must validate financial sustainability.
    8. The community must possess the ability, and undertake the responsibility, to sustain the project upon completion.

STEP 2

REVIEW DURATION

    1. The Project Proposal Review Duration commences from the time of submission and evaluation will take place in a time frame of approximately 4 to 6 weeks, after which the final decision will be made known to you.

STEP 3

DECISION OF THE PROJECT PROPOSAL

    1. The Project Proposal will either be denied or approved.
    2. If the Project is approved, the approval notice will be posted onto the EWBSL website and be available for amendments and comments by our students and professionals.

STEP 4

PROJECT COMMENCEMENT

    1. Note that the project commencement date and duration will depend on the location, time, available resources and expertise, and other prevailing factors.
    2. EWBSL will begin by planning the project, its details, requirements and its scheduling. Then a site visit will accustom the team to the community and the environment in which the project will take place – all technical data collected will be evaluated and the way forward will be organized.
